Sarahí Apaez is a bilingual freelance multimedia journalist and photographer with a focus on culture, identity, and environmental issues based in LA. She is published in the Long Beach Post, Daily Pilot, and LA Times En Español, among others.

She graduated from Humboldt State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a minor in Anthropology. In Humboldt County, she found her passion for fearless journalism and reporting on disenfranchised communities while on staff at the Spanish monthly student newspaper, El Leñador.

Most recently, she grew her skills in multimedia reporting at the Long Beach Post while covering arts, culture, and even breaking news. Before that, she reported for and mentored young journalists at VoiceWaves, a local youth media program in Long Beach.

She believes in using the power of multimedia and online tools for community storytelling, education, and advocacy.

Her goal is to tell narrative stories that amplify underrepresented voices in the style that makes them shine — whatever form of multimedia that may be.
